Addressing Fibrosis: An Essential Component of Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema

Published: 1 November, 2021

This webinar offers comprehensive updates to Karen Ashforth’s groundbreaking 2019 LE&RN article: Understanding Breast Cancer Related Fibrosis: Post-surgical, Radiation-induced, and Cording.

Fibrosis is used to stage lymphedema, yet many clinicians and patients are not aware of how prevalent it is, nor how to treat it. The fact is, every patient with lymphedema has fibrotic changes, even those with Stage 0. Addressing fibrosis along with lymphedema treatment can enhance the entire treatment as well as provide patients simple tools that prevent progression of both fibrosis and lymphedema.

In this webinar, learn to identify eight of the most common types of fibrosis found with breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) and essential fibrosis treatment approaches that can impact swelling, pain, function, and quality of life.

Presented by: Karen Ashforth, MS, OTR/L, CLT-LANA and Lesli Bell, DPT, CLT-LANA
